== About the Support Site ==
LBP Union's support website, powered by Zammad, is a portal that allows users to get help with these topics:

* '''Beacon account support''': renaming and deleting accounts, as well as 2FA resets
* '''Security''': creating grief reports and appeals

=== Why a Support Site? ===
Previously, the above topics were handled via the following channels:

* Discord
* Google Form on our website's contact page (requests responded to via email)

A support site is superior to these options because of the following reasons:

* Our team can better collaborate on requests
* Support can be provided without a 3rd party service like Discord, making support more equitable to all users
* Beacon account support requests made using the email address attached to a Beacon account are automatically verified, simplifying request verification

Eventually, the support site will replace Discord for Beacon account support entirely.

== Topics ==
Below is a list of help topics for using the support site as an LBP Union administrator or eligible security team member.<categorytree mode="pages">Zammad</categorytree>
== Overview ==
'Text Modules' are ways to quickly explain things without making your keyboard warrior fingers hurt. You use them when typing a reply in a support ticket, like this:
::setemail
The above command will summon a long explanation of how to set your email:<blockquote>If you made your account a long time ago and don’t have an email set yet, follow these steps:

# Connect to Beacon. Your game must be properly patched to do this. You'll get an announcements screen if you do this correctly.
# Use in-game text chat to type, "/setemail [your email]" Do not include brackets or quotation marks when typing the command.
# You will receive a verification email. Click the link in the email to verify your account. If it fails, try doing a password reset from the 'forgot my password' section of the login screen on beacon.lbpunion.com
</blockquote>This guide doesn't document all the text modules. Please refer to the available text modules on the support site to see what they do!

=== Logging in ===

==== Prerequisites ====
To login to the support portal, you will need two things:

# Your [https://www.lbpunion.com/passport LBP Union Passport (Authentik) account]
# Permissions (USC Director or some eligible Starguard)

Unexpected behavior at login may be due to a permissions issue. Without the right permissions, you will only see the Customer view. If you don't use Discord to sign in with Passport and need to have your roles synced, contact m88youngling!

==== Login with Authentik ====

# Visit [https://support.lbpunion.com/ support.lbpunion.com]
# Click the Authentik button
# Follow the prompts

== Setting Up Notifications ==
By default, LBP Union's support site is '''NOT''' configured to automatically sync your Passport email. Unless you have used the support site before to get help with your account, you will not have an email assigned to your account. Therefore, you won't be able to receive notifications by default.

=== Changing the Email Address of Yourself or Another User (admin) ===
If you have Admin privileges, you can set email addresses for yourself and other users via desktop:

# Visit the [https://support.lbpunion.com/#manage settings] panel. On desktop, click the gear in the lower left corner
# Navigate to [https://support.lbpunion.com/#manage/users users]
# Find the user you want to change and click on them
# Enter the email of your choice in the box
# Click '''Submit'''

This behavior may change in the future.

=== Update Notification Settings ===
Via desktop, follow these steps:

# Click your profile picture in the lower left
# Select [https://support.lbpunion.com/#profile profile]
# Select [https://support.lbpunion.com/#profile/notifications notifications]
# Configure as necessary

== Using the Overviews Screen ==
The [https://support.lbpunion.com/#ticket/view/my_assigned Overviews] screen will show you several 'overview' categories. These are ways of grouping tickets by their status. The most useful overview is ''''Unassigned and Open Tickets'''<nowiki/>'. This will show you all tickets that have not been claimed and are currently open. Other overviews include:

* '''My Assigned Tickets''': if you have assigned a ticket to yourself or someone else has assigned you a ticket and that ticket is open, it will appear here.
* '''Beacon Support Overview''': this will show all tickets in the Beacon Support group.
* '''Security Tickets''': this will show you all tickets in the Security group.

<blockquote>A ''''group'''<nowiki/>' in Zammad is a ticket's 'topic'. For example: emailing support@lbpunion.com automatically sorts a ticket into the Beacon Support group.</blockquote>
[[File:Ticket Interface.png|thumb|576x576px|This Beacon Support ticket is closed, and m88youngling is assigned as the owner. It's also spam...yuck]]

== Managing a Ticket ==
When you open a single ticket on desktop, you're presented with a chat-like interface.

=== Setting a Ticket Owner ===
If you intend to respond to a ticket, you should claim the ticket by '''assigning yourself as the owner''' with the sidebar drop down. This will help you get additional notifications if you have that set up. Alternatively, you can subscribe to the ticket. If you do not assign the ticket to a user, it will remain in the '''Unassigned and Open Tickets''' overview.

=== Correcting a Ticket Group ===
If you believe a ticket is in the wrong group, you can update the group with the sidebar drop down.

=== Setting the Ticket's State ===
If the ticket is ready to be closed, set it to 'Closed'. However, if anyone responds to the ticket (for example, to say 'thanks'), it will open again.

=== Responding to the Ticket ===
You can respond to the ticket using the chat interface, but be careful how you respond; there are a few options to respond:

* '''Email''': the preferred option. This sends an email from support@lbpunion.com or security@lbpunion.com back to the user.
* '''<nowiki/>'Public' Note''': a note which appears in the web interface and can be seen by the user if they are logged into the support portal. They are not notified about this, so we prefer not to use this option.
* '''<nowiki/>'Private' Note''': a note which appears in the web interface and can only be seen by other support team members. This is useful for leaving documentation about a ticket.

Always make sure you're sending an email to reply to the user. '''The behavior of the web interface can be a little tricky and may default to a private note instead of an email if you aren't deliberate!'''

=== Add Links ===
The 'Add Links' feature on the right sidebar can be used to link a ticket to another ticket. This is useful if you think a ticket is a duplicate of another (sometimes people email the inbox twice).
By default, LBP Union's support site is '''NOT''' configured to automatically sync your Passport email. Unless you have used the support site before to get help with your account, you will not have an email assigned to your account. Therefore, you won't be able to receive notifications by default.

==== Changing the Email Address of Yourself or Another User (admin) ====
If you have Admin privileges, you can set email addresses for yourself and other users via desktop:

# Visit the [https://support.lbpunion.com/#manage settings] panel. On desktop, click the gear in the lower left corner
# Navigate to [https://support.lbpunion.com/#manage/users users]
# Find the user you want to change and click on them
# Enter the email of your choice in the box
# Click '''Submit'''

This behavior may change in the future.

==== Update Notification Settings ====
Via desktop, follow these steps:

# Click your profile picture in the lower left
# Select [https://support.lbpunion.com/#profile profile]
# Select [https://support.lbpunion.com/#profile/notifications notifications]
# Configure as necessary

It's recommended to have notifications turned on for new tickets and updates to tickets you're responsible for.

== Managing Tickets ==
This section will show you how to find, respond to, and manage tickets.

=== Using the Overviews Screen ===

=== Managing a Ticket ===
When you open a single ticket on desktop, you're presented with a chat-like interface.

==== Setting a Ticket Owner ====

==== Correcting a Ticket Group ====
If you believe a ticket is in the wrong group, you can update the group with the sidebar drop down.

==== Setting the Ticket's State ====
If the ticket is ready to be closed, set it to 'Closed'. However, if anyone responds to the ticket (for example, to say 'thanks'), it will open again.

==== Responding to the Ticket ====

==== Add Links ====
The 'Add Links' feature on the right sidebar can be used to link a ticket to another ticket. This is useful if you think a ticket is a duplicate of another (sometimes people email the inbox twice).

{{InaccessibleSources|Links to private LBP Union Discord server channels that need to be declassified.}}

Patchwork is a security plugin independently developed by Zaprit and other community contributors. It was first designed to mitigate the risk of the force join exploit in LittleBigPlanet 1, 2 and 3. It is expected to eventually support PlayStation Vita as well as blocking malicious scripts from being loaded in the client.

== History ==
Patchwork came from necessity following the discovery of several critical security vulnerabilities in the LittleBigPlanet client.

=== Discovery of LittleBigPlanet Client-side Exploits ===
On December 7, 2024, [[LittleBigPlanet Union|LBP Union]] published a security advisory detailing the risk of [[wikipedia:Arbitrary_code_execution|remote code execution]] (RCE) attacks when playing in LittleBigPlanet P2P lobbies. This resulted in LBP Union disabling [[Dive In]] features for [[Beacon]] to encourage players only to play with those that they trust.<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/post/security-advisory-about-littlebigplanet-online-play/ Security Advisory About LittleBigPlanet Online Play], ''LBP Union'', December 7, 2024 (Accessed May 29, 2026)</ref> However, LBP Union was concerned about the possibility of a malicious user forcibly joining another player's session as early as October 16, 2024, according to a discussion in a private [[LBP Union Starguard|Starguard]] Discord channel<ref>{{Cite discord|author=Spikel3t|date=October 16, 2024|channel=starguard|guild=LBP Union Discord Server|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/1041748813163016282/1296022602783129682}}</ref>.

Later, on May 7, 2025, LBP Union received code from an undisclosed source that was purported to enable force joining another user by creating a forged LittleBigInvite link. Since the exploit was made possible by a vulnerability in the game client, nothing could be done on the server to mitigate the risk; no custom server software by itself could ever make online play safe. Both Minister of Technology Zaprit and [[Union Space Corps]] Director Fetetra determined that the code was credible, and advised that Beacon's services be terminated until a solution could be developed. This situation was explained in a security advisory published on May 10<ref name=":0">[https://www.lbpunion.com/post/littlebigplanet-security-advisory-beacon-extended-downtime/ LittleBigPlanet Security Advisory: Force Join Exploit], ''LBP Union,'' May 10, 2025 (Accessed May 29, 2026)</ref>.

=== Seeking a Solution ===
The solutions proposed by LBP Union in this advisory were<ref name=":0" />:

* '''A game patch''': the only lasting fix, but also the most challenging to achieve due to the closed source code of the game. A game patch would either mitigate force join, prevent malicious scripts from loading, or both.
* '''Custom RPCN network''': would not fix the problem, but would allow LBP Union greater control over who could register an account. Would not help PS3 users.
* '''Additional client-side software''': LBP Union proposed additional software that might be able to support LittleBigPlanet clients at runtime.

The final proposal was pursued independently by Zaprit, creating the [https://github.com/HugeSpaceship/Patchwork Patchwork GitHub repository] soon thereafter.

=== Developing Patchwork ===
On May 18, Zaprit merged the first nine commits to the repository. He was initially assisted by Jvyden, who made eight commits between May and June that year. Toastbrot236 would contribute commits in July<ref>[https://github.com/HugeSpaceship/Patchwork/graphs/contributors?all=1 Patchwork Contributors Log], ''GitHub,'' Retrieved 5/29/2026</ref>. By May 25, Zaprit reported to the LBP Union Protectors that he and Jackcaver had successfully deployed the Patchwork security plugin on all three main LittleBigPlanet games with the PS3's [https://github.com/PS3Xploit/PS3HEN Homebrew Enabler (HEN)]. He proposed that [[UnionPatcher]] be discontinued in favor of [[Refresher]] as LBP Union's recommended Patching software, as Refresher was much more user friendly and implemented Patchwork when patching.<ref>{{Cite discord|author=Zaprit|date=May 25, 2025|channel=protectors|guild=LBP Union Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/1145476353429356655/1376351416083415050}}</ref>

=== Deploying Patchwork with Refresher ===
On May 26, maintainers of the Refresher patching software repository on GitHub merged a pull request that began the process of incorporating Patchwork into Refresher. However, this first change only affected PS3 users<ref>[https://github.com/LittleBigRefresh/Refresher/pull/84 Refresher closed PR #84], GitHub, May 26, 2025, accessed May 29, 2026</ref>. It wasn't until June 18 that Refresher would support patching RPCS3 with Patchwork<ref>[https://github.com/LittleBigRefresh/Refresher/pull/92 Refresher closed PR #92], ''GitHub'', June 18, 2025, accessed May 29, 2026</ref>. LBP Union subsequently reopened Beacon on July 1, advising players to use Refresher to re-patch and install Patchwork<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/post/lbp-reconnected-2025-contest-beacon-is-back/ LBP Reconnected 2025 Contest: Beacon is Back!], ''LBP Union'', July 1, 2025, accessed May 29, 2026</ref>.

=== Current Development ===
Patchwork is currently being developed to support PlayStation Vita as well as to block unrecognized scripts from being loaded by the game client. This effort is currently led by Zaprit and Fetetra. The last pull request to the Patchwork repository was merged on May 1, 2026<ref>[https://github.com/HugeSpaceship/Patchwork/pull/22 Patchwork closed PR #22 Toml Configurations], GitHub, May 1, 2026</ref>.

== Other Development ==

=== Attempts to Incorporate into LittleBigPatcher ===
Refresher was not the only patching software to attempt to incorporate Patchwork's objectives. [[LittleBigPatcher]], developed by myegghead, attempts to provide the same client-side security methods that Patchwork does. The repository cites Patchwork for the concept of a join key:<blockquote>Patchwork 1.0

Implementation of "join keys" is based of, as well as user agent convention<ref>[https://github.com/LittleBigPatcherTeam/LittleBigPatcher-for-Custom-Servers-PS3-Homebrew README.md], LittleBigPatcher-for-Custom-Servers-PS3-Homebrew, ''GitHub,'' Accessed May 29, 2026</ref></blockquote>LittleBigPatcher does not implement Patchwork, but it attempts to achieve the same results. Consequently, users of LittleBigPatcher will be behind on future Patchwork security updates. The implementation of these features are also not guaranteed to work in the same way. As a result, LBP Union only approves of using Refresher to patch clients to custom servers at this time, as other software may expose users to vulnerabilities.<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/beacon Beacon], ''LBP Union'', Accessed May 29, 2026</ref> myegghead has expressed willingness to port the official version of Patchwork to LittleBigPatcher. On July 17, 2025, they wrote<ref>{{Cite discord|author=myegghead|date=July 17, 2025|channel=community-dev|guild=LBP Union Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/1231665919395102750/1395511354407911464}}</ref>:<blockquote>if anyone could help or know anyone who can let me know, i just need to port <nowiki>https://github.com/NotNite/SPRXPatcher</nowiki> to c then i can add Patchwork plugin support for LittleBigPatcher (which will be nice for futures)</blockquote>However, the progress on this effort is unknown.

== The Plugin ==
The repository describes Patchwork as follows:<blockquote>Patchwork is an SPRX module that patches the LittleBigPlanet series of games to fix some of the many security vulnerabilities the games have.</blockquote>As an [https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SELF_-_SPRX SPRX] module, Patchwork can run on a PlayStation 3 or RPCS3 without any additional hardware or software after the patching process is complete. Once patched, Patchwork will start as soon as the game is booted so long as the console has syscalls enabled.{{Fact}}

=== Join Keys ===
The primary feature of Patchwork is the implementation of a 'join key' for the client', also known as a 'lobby password'. This password is selected when patching. After patching, only players with the same join key as you can connect to your P2P session in LittleBigPlanet. This join key can be changed at any time by re-patching with Refresher.

=== Phases ===

==== Phase 1: Identification ====
The Union Space Corps and LBP Union Archives staff will identify community-created tutorials on [[LBP Union Discord|LBP Union's Discord]] server. This can be done by assigning a thread with the tags '<nowiki/>'''Legacy Tutorials'''<nowiki/>' and ''''Legacy Misc'''<nowiki/>'.
About 1-2 weeks to complete.

==== Phase 2: Disposition ====
Once all the threads have been identified, they need to be classified with a disposition:

* '''Migrate''': good to move to the wiki
* '''Combine''': merge with another tutorial
* '''Archive''': the tutorial is outdated, irrelevent, or better covered by another resource and should be archived in some way.

About 1-3 days to complete

==== Phase 3: Migration ====
Now the LBP Union Archives staff and other volunteers can begin migrating tutorials to the wiki. They should attempt to improve them in several ways:

* Ensuring information is up to date
* Improving presentation of the information (brief and easy to read and understand
* Link to relevant resources
=== Teams ===
These teams take part in this project:

* '''Union Space Corps''': assisting in identifying community-created tutorials in the #beacon-support Discord forum and other channels
* '''LBP Union Archives''': migrating these tutorials to the wiki in the Help: namespace

=== Phases ===

==== Phase 1: Identification ====

==== Phase 2: Migration ====
Once all the threads have been identified, the LBP Union Archives staff and other volunteers can begin migrating tutorials to the wiki. They should attempt to improve them in several ways:

* Ensuring information is up to date
* Improving presentation of the information (brief and easy to read and understand
* Link to relevant resources

Original authors must be attributed. About 1 month to complete.

=== Discuss ===
Discuss this project on the forum.

== Setting Up WebDAV with UnionCloud ==
[[File:UnionCloud WebDAV Demonstration.png|thumb]]

This guide outlines the steps for LBP Union team members to set up WebDAV with UnionCloud using an app password. Team members should only use this if they cannot use the NextCloud app for some reason. [[Help:UnionCloud/Set up the NextCloud App|See instructions on using the NextCloud app with UnionCloud.]]

This guide is for Windows users.

[[wikipedia:WebDAV|WebDAV (Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning)]] is an extension of the HTTP protocol that allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on remote web servers. It can allow you to access UnionCloud files directly from Windows File Explorer.

=== Step 1: Log in to Your UnionCloud Account ===
1. Visit [https://cloud.lbpunion.com UnionCloud].

2. Authenticate using Authentik.

=== Step 2: Generate an App Password ===
1. Once logged in, go to ''Settings'' in your UnionCloud account.

2. Select the ''Security'' tab.

3. In the ''App Passwords'' section, click on ''Create a new app password''.

4. Name your app password (e.g., ''WebDAV'') for easy identification.

5. Copy the generated app password. '''Note''': You won’t be able to view this password again after you leave the page.

=== Step 3: Set Up WebDAV in Windows File Explorer ===
1. Open ''File Explorer'' on your Windows machine.

2. Right-click on ''This PC'' or ''Network'' and select ''Map network drive...''.

3. Choose ''Choose a custom network location'' and click ''Next''.

4. Enter the following WebDAV URL: https://cloud.lbpunion.com/remote.php/dav/files/your-username/ ('''Note''': your username will appear as 'Authentik' and a bunch of numbers. You can find your actual username in your profile settings in UnionCloud)

5. When prompted, enter your UnionCloud username and the app password created in Step 2.

6. Make sure the option ''Remember my credentials'' is selected.

7. Click ''Finish''. Your network location should now be mapped and persistent across reboots.

=== Step 4: Verify the Connection ===
1. In ''File Explorer'', navigate to the newly mapped network location.

2. Ensure you can access and manage your UnionCloud files as expected.

=== Step 5: Troubleshooting ===
* If you encounter connection issues, double-check the WebDAV URL and your app password.
* Verify that your system and any related network services are up to date.
* Re-generate the app password if issues with connectivity persist.

==== Known Issues ====
WebDAV credentials may not properly persist after system reboots. You may need to save your app password in a password manager to enter it when the system loses the credentials.

=== Additional Steps that Might Be Required ===

==== '''Enable WebClient service''' ====
Open Services (services.msc) and locate the "WebClient" service.

# Right-click on it and select "Properties".
# Change the startup type to "Automatic".
# Click "Apply" and then "OK"

==== '''Configure Firewall settings:''' ====

* Enable incoming WebDAV connections by allowing traffic on port 443 (HTTPS) through your Windows Firewall.
* You can do this via the Advanced Settings of the Windows Defender Firewall

=== Limitations ===

* You cannot share files with others or use UnionCloud applications with a WebDAV connection

The LBP Union Pathfinders were a former branch of the LBP Union responsible for community engagement. The team was unique in that they were deeply connected to LBP Union's moderation team, yet had no access to exact moderation actions. The team was discontinued on July 4, 2025.

== History ==

=== Foundation ===
The Pathfinder team was founded on March 11, 2021. Lead Protector m88youngling made this announcement: <ref>{{Cite discord|author=m88youngling|date=March 11, 2021|channel=news|guild=Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/651235130534395962/819662845376856065}}</ref><blockquote>I am looking for people interested in becoming moderators. We have two tiers: chat moderators called Pathfinders and full moderators called Peacekeepers. You can apply to help us out here (link).

Why moderate for our server? It's a great way to stay engaged and give back to the community. I'd like the team to not just be focused on enforcing rules and beating people over the head with big sticks. I'd like us to work toward making this a fun, active, and positive community during these trying times. Please shoot me a message if you have any questions</blockquote>Following several applications, numerous Pathfinders were appointed within a week of the announcement<ref>{{Cite discord|author=m88youngling|date=March 13, 2021|channel=Pathfinders|guild=LBP Union Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/820358411539316757/820377971151208518|access=Private}}</ref><ref>{{Cite discord|author=m88youngling|date=March 13, 2021|channel=Pathfinders|guild=LBP Union Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/820358411539316757/821560283356463114|access=Private}}</ref>. On March 13, m88youngling shared an an internal announcement at LBP Union addressed to the Pathfinder team which advised them on several topics<ref>{{Cite discord|author=m88youngling|date=March 13, 2021|channel=team-news|guild=LBP Union Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/820403310296301598/820403790502428673}}</ref>:

* '''Objective''': the Pathfinder team's goal is to make the Discord server a "safe, fun, and engaging environment."
* '''Rules''': reminders that Pathfinder conduct reflects upon the entire team, and that team members should have a consistent username/nickname.
* '''Conduct''': a reminder to not be a voice of authority, and that the Pathfinder team's goal is instead to direct community members to the resources they need to succeed.

In that same message, m88youngling also shared some strategies for completing those objectives:

* '''Conversationalism''': encouraged helping people by talking to them and directing them to resources they might need.
* '''Escalation''': if further action is needed, Pathfinders are to escalate in the #pathfinders Discord channel so that moderators could take action.

=== Community Wellness Initiative ===
The Pathfinder team was presented to the public as being a part of the Community Wellness Initiative. On April 10, 2021, LBP Union published a [https://www.lbpunion.com/post/lbp-community-wellness-initiative-pathfinders-forum-discord-directory/ blog post] on LBPUnion.com which described the purpose of the Pathfinder team, the new Discord server directory, and the Wix forum. It suggested a unique role for the Pathfinder team<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/post/lbp-community-wellness-initiative-pathfinders-forum-discord-directory/ LBP Community Wellness Initiative: Pathfinders, Forum, & Discord Directory], ''LBPUnion.com'', April 10, 2021, accessed May 30, 2026</ref>:<blockquote>Instead, Pathfinders on the LBP Union Discord server do not have any moderation powers. They are not police. Instead, they serve as guides and resources for the community. They help encourage members to move to the appropriate channels, remind them of where they can find the rules, and elevate serious issues to our moderation team.

Without moderator powers, Pathfinders must find other ways to help keep a better atmosphere on our Discord server. Server members also feel more comfortable engaging with them because they know that they are there to help them, not to berate them for making a mistake.</blockquote>According to the blog post, this approach was much different from how other LBP Discord communities operated at the time. It explained how many users can feel that they are treated unfairly by moderation processes, and that the mere presence of users with moderation powers can be intimidating:<blockquote>As part of the Community Wellness Initiative, the Pathfinder program is an alternative to this traditional method. When we emphasize safety, security, and fairness, the first image that comes to your mind is a police officer. However, there is a problem here: law enforcement officers have power. If that power is used inappropriately, it can create serious problems. The same can be applied to moderators. With the ability to kick, ban, and mute others, it’s no surprise that server members often feel nervous or afraid to speak up to raise their concerns to moderators.</blockquote>The Pathfinder team was founded to alleviate this problem by providing the community with someone to talk to that didn't have those powers that might be used against them.

== History ==
Patchwork came from necessity following the discovery of several critical security vulnerabilities in the LittleBigPlanet client.

=== Discovery of LittleBigPlanet Client-side Exploits ===

=== Seeking a Solution ===

=== Developing Patchwork ===

=== Current Development ===

== Other Development ==

Consequently, LBP Union only approves of using Refresher to patch clients to custom servers at this time, as other software may expose users to vulnerabilities.<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/beacon Beacon], ''LBP Union'', Accessed May 29, 2026</ref> myegghead has expressed willingness to port the official version of Patchwork to LittleBigPatcher.
== The Plugin ==
The repository describes Patchwork as follows:<blockquote>Patchwork is an SPRX module that patches the LittleBigPlanet series of games to fix some of the many security vulnerabilities the games have.</blockquote>As an [https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SELF_-_SPRX SPRX] module, Patchwork can run on a PlayStation 3 or RPCS3 without any additional hardware or software after the patching process is complete. Once patched, Patchwork will start as soon as the game is booted so long as the console has syscalls enabled.{{Fact}}

=== Join Keys ===
It is expected to eventually support PlayStation Vita as well as blocking malicious scripts from being loaded in the client.

== History ==
Patchwork came from necessity following the discovery of several critical security vulnerabilities in the LittleBigPlanet client.

=== Discovery of LittleBigPlanet Client-side Exploits ===

=== Seeking a Solution ===

=== Developing Patchwork ===

=== Current Development ===

== Other Development ==

== The Plugin ==
However, this first change only affected PS3 users<ref>[https://github.com/LittleBigRefresh/Refresher/pull/84 Refresher closed PR #84], GitHub, May 26, 2025, accessed May 29, 2026</ref>. It wasn't until June 18 that Refresher would support patching RPCS3 with Patchwork<ref>[https://github.com/LittleBigRefresh/Refresher/pull/92 Refresher closed PR #92], ''GitHub'', June 18, 2025, accessed May 29, 2026</ref>. LBP Union subsequently reopened Beacon on July 1, advising players to use Refresher to re-patch and install Patchwork<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/post/lbp-reconnected-2025-contest-beacon-is-back/ LBP Reconnected 2025 Contest: Beacon is Back!], ''LBP Union'', July 1, 2025, accessed May 29, 2026</ref>.

=== Current Development ===

== Other Development ==

== The Plugin ==
The repository describes Patchwork as follows:<blockquote>Patchwork is an SPRX module that patches the LittleBigPlanet series of games to fix some of the many security vulnerabilities the games have.</blockquote>As an [https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SELF_-_SPRX SPRX] module, Patchwork can run on a PlayStation 3 or RPCS3 without any additional hardware or software after the patching process is complete. Once patched, Patchwork will start as soon as the game is booted so long as the console has syscalls enabled.{{Fact}}

=== Join Keys ===

== History ==
Patchwork came from necessity following the discovery of several critical security vulnerabilities in the LittleBigPlanet client.

=== Discovery of LittleBigPlanet Client-side Exploits ===
On December 7, 2024, LBP Union published a security advisory detailing the risk of [[wikipedia:Arbitrary_code_execution|remote code execution]] (RCE) attacks when playing in LittleBigPlanet P2P lobbies. This resulted in LBP Union disabling Dive In features for Beacon to encourage players only to play with those that they trust.<ref>[https://www.lbpunion.com/post/security-advisory-about-littlebigplanet-online-play/ Security Advisory About LittleBigPlanet Online Play], ''LBP Union'', December 7, 2024 (Accessed May 29, 2026)</ref> However, LBP Union was concerned about the possibility of a malicious user forcibly joining another player's session as early as October 16, 2024, according to a discussion in a private Starguard Discord channel<ref>{{Cite discord|author=Spikel3t|date=October 16, 2024|channel=starguard|guild=LBP Union Discord Server|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/1041748813163016282/1296022602783129682}}</ref>.

=== Seeking a Solution ===

The final proposal was pursued independently by Zaprit, creating the Patchwork GitHub repository soon thereafter.

=== Developing Patchwork ===
On May 18, Zaprit merged the first nine commits to the repository. He was initially assisted by Jvyden, who made eight commits between May and June that year. He proposed that UnionPatcher be discontinued in favor of Refresher as LBP Union's recommended Patching software, as Refresher was much more user friendly and implemented Patchwork when patching.<ref>{{Cite discord|author=Zaprit|date=May 25, 2025|channel=protectors|guild=LBP Union Discord|url=https://discord.com/channels/354122111503171586/1145476353429356655/1376351416083415050}}</ref>
