Union Refoundation Day is a holiday celebrated by the LBP Union to recognize the first reformation of the Union on December 14th, 2013. From 'refoundation' to the Union's collapse in 2016, Refoundation Day was celebrated as a positive revival against the odds of the aggressive, hateful era of clans that preceded the Union's reformation. In more recent times, Refoundation Day is recognized as a celebration of growth and change. Although the Union from 2013 to 2016 was far from perfect, it was a natural step forward toward what it is today.

Background

The first known reference to Refoundation Day was in a journal entry by m88youngling on November 11th, 2014. There were plans for a summit meeting between the Union's members as well as a 'press conference' level with speeches given by Union leaders.^[1] The holiday was occasionally alternatively referred to as 'Union Day'.^[2]

2014

On Union Day 2014, various Union levels were both decorated to celebrate the holiday. A press conference level was published where TME Mandalore MidnightLights10 and their representative TeamHeidi both gave speeches. They were followed by Union Vice President (NCR President) Lgmpm and Foreign Minister (NCR Vice President) CCSocalGamer. A level featuring a parade was also published, featuring a short message from m88youngling. This message highlighted how the Union had successfully changed the 'meaning of clans for the better'.

2015

Due to time constraints, m88youngling was not able to create the levels necessary for Union Refoundation Day. Instead, the responsibility was passed off to Vice President Lgmpm three weeks prior to the holiday. Being President of the NCR clan, Lgmpm chose to depict the celebration within Tandi Memorial Plaza in Shady Sands. The level featured a speech from Lgmpm and NCR Vice President / Union Foreign Minister CCSocaiGamer. Flags from the states of the Union were featured to represent them in the event.

2021

The LBP Union in 2021 celebrated Refoundation Day with a brief social media campaign called #LBPReflections. In a blog post published on LBPUnion.com, readers were asked to reflect on their favorite memories of LittleBigPlanet and share them on social media.
