Overview
Agent Washington is a version of the NadekoBot open source Discord server bot hosted by M88youngling. It is significant for its ability to collect chat logs from the LittleBigPlanet Union's discord server used in 2016, as well as the current Union discord server.
Origin
Conception
For the purposes of the archival initiative, M88youngling sought for a way to collect chat logs as a primary source for the Union's 2016 discord server. These would be more accurate about interpersonal activities than journals or other accounts of the events. Eventually, the idea of a bot that could accomplish this was conceived, inspired by another bot known as Honya, which was a Nadeko-based self hosted bot by a non-LBP organization called GrunSolutions.
Implementation
A nadeko-based bot was decided upon by M88youngling, and the name was determined to be Agent Washington. This name paid homage to a robot designed by TragicTakedown for inclusion in the Agents headquarters during around 2010-2011. Agent Washington's avatar was created by Huntsman007. The avatar sought to also pay homage to the original robot's top hat.
Agent Washington was incorporated into the old Union server used during 2016, the new Union server established in the fall of 2017, as well as two other non-LBP affiliated servers belonging to the YSFlight simulator organizations of the Special Armed Response Force and Neo United Nations.
Hosting Location
Agent Washington was hosted in various locations. M88youngling's ultimate goal was to have Agent Washington run at all times so that it could be used for functions at any time of the day or night. However, this was limited by the machine the bot was hosted on. Constant operation of the bot was not possible from a personal device. A permanent location for hosting was found by M88youngling initially, but maintenance was impossible. Currently, Agent Washington is being hosted on a VPS server run by the Special Armed Response Force, a YSFlight simulator-based organization.
